Conference Grant

Looking to attend a conference but your finances are preventing you from doing so? DEGS had now opened our conference grant application!

The purpose of this grant is to provide an additional means of funding to engineering graduate students that are presenting at or participating in a conference. Eligible students can request up to $200 of funding; however, the final monetary amount awarded to successful applicants is determined by DEGS Council members during Council Meeting(s) and cannot exceed the expenses incurred by attending the conference. The amount of funding awarded is dependent on the financial needs of the applicant, the completion of the grant application, and the available DEGS funding remaining. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Eligibility:

To qualify for a DEGS Conference Grant, applicants must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Applicants must be an engineering graduate student at Dalhousie University at the time of the grant submission and at the time of the conference.

  2. Applicants must be participating (authorship on a poster and/or presentation at the conference) or presenting at a conference related to their graduate studies.

  3. Applicants must not have previously received a DEGS Conference Grant in the current academic year (September to August).

  4. Complete applications must be submitted to DEGS no later than one month after the start date of the conference.
